Little Sammy Davis (1928-2018)
Little Sammy was a great blues harmonica musician. He performed with Muddy Waters, Albert King, Ike Turner & Levon Helm, among many others. He dropped out of the music scene for a few decades due to depression, but was rediscovered in the 1990’s by local musician brothers, Brad and Fred Scribner. He then played regularly in New York City (including the “Imus In The Morning” show) and at many local venues such as the Levon Helms studio in Woodstock N.Y. and with the famous blues guitarist and songwriter Bill Perry at Middletown and Chester venues. His gravestone at Hillside is uniquely sculpted with his harmonica in place atop his mortal reminas.
